As a child … I used to wonder what people were thinking, to be as they were. It appeared to me that the adult world was completely disconnected from everything that I felt was true. Grown-ups were seriously switched off, as far as I could tell. Yet I couldn’t wait to be grown up because so much was forbidden to me, as a child. I was seduced by the idea that I could do whatever I wanted … when I wanted … without anyone telling me what to do. Then something strange happened. I went through that period between 12 and 21 when I knew everything … especially everything that was wrong with the world. Then suddenly I was “grown up”. WHAT IS ENLIGHTENMENT? I wonder if anyone really knows what constitutes enlightenment, beyond their fantasy of what it must be like. Glowing rainbow chakras … floating in ecstatic bliss … free of challenges … Every day I see various memes, giving me idealised versions of it. I certainly don’t measure up to any of them … and don’t want to. [I have actually been accused of it a few times 🙄 … I plead not guilty.] It seems to me that “enlightenment” is another of those loaded terms that we’re encouraged to judge ourselves by. Another opportunity to admit to not being good enough. There are so many of these in our social order. WHAT’S COMING NEXT? …  I saw this headline on a recent article, but it was preceded by “THIS IS …” and it occurred to me that nobody actually knows. Because the future reality is unfolding according to the frequency of its creators. Those creators are us, you and me. And our frequencies are shifting … evolving … all the time. So the future reality that we manifest is also evolving. This evolution is a living expression of the inherent creativity that inhabits the beingness of humankind. It’s actually awakening now and we’re beginning to see its potential. However there are many distressing predictions offered in the terms indicated above: “THIS IS WHAT’S COMING NEXT!!!”. I was born a few short years after the end of World War 2, into a firmly established wartime consciousness that permeated my early childhood. I spent some of those years in the adventure playgrounds created by the Luftwaffe – the bomb-sites of North London. Since those days there have been several nuclear scares, along with military action in other parts of the world, but I’ve lived in the privileged war-free zone of North-Western Europe. The wartime consciousness I remember from my childhood has faded into a history that fewer and fewer people are alive to recall … but it feels like it’s back now. During times of war major controls are imposed on the civilian population. That’s generally accomplished by a manipulation of consent through insistent official narratives supported by the “news” media. A CHALLENGING REFLECTION ON A DIFFICULT SUBJECT …

I’ve always found this self-reflection stuff challenging, which is the surest sign that there’s something for me to learn from it. I see some very ugly problems in the world, and I certainly don’t want to accept that they’re in anyway a reflection of me. BUT … One of the important aspects of this phenomenon that I have learned, is that the reflection is somehow indirect. It’s distorted in some way … upside down, magnified, twisted … So I have to explore it and decode it, a bit like a clue in a crossword puzzle. Perhaps one of the nastiest issues that I don’t want to consider in relation to myself, is the trafficking of children; the violation of their innocence and their disappearance on an almost industrial scale. O.K. So, you’ve tried making contact with the natives, and they’re not friendly. The pollution levels in the atmosphere and general environment are dangerous, and you know you can’t exist for very long on the poison they call food here. But the transporter room is off-line. Right now you’re marooned. Somehow, you’ve got to survive until the rescue team arrives. But there’s a nagging feeling that you are the rescue team, and the rest of the crew, back on the ship have left you to it. Don’t worry, it’s not personal. This world is not hostile, but the consciousness that prevails here is toxic. That’s why the natives are so angry, aggressive, mistrusting, paranoid, neurotic and psychotic.
